Have you ever tried painting with a pinecone? Or using a leaf as a brush?

In this class, we will use found and foraged materials to create our own art-making tools to explore the possibilities of drawing/painting that encourages our senses in a dynamic and lively way. We will create a work inspired by the landscape with a variety of mark-making techniques and purposeful play.

Using inks and other materials with our non-traditional art tools, participants will take part in the process of observing the world around us and freely expressing inspiration from nature.

Included:
Ink, paper materials, and other media to add if desired.

What Should People Bring: OPTIONAL: natural materials of interest from their own foraging (pine cones, twigs, feathers, leaves, etc.)

Meet Your Instructor:

Hello there! I’m Lindsey and I am an artist, high school art teacher, and lover of all things nature.

I find I am always inspired by the world around me and the sights, sounds, textures, and views of our beautiful province.

My undergraduate degree in Fine Arts led me to my path of eventually becoming a teacher 3 years ago. I feel privileged to share my passion and excitement of art-making with young people - they truly inspire me every day!

I am a strong believer that everyone can benefit from the magic of working with their hands in some creative way and it is so good for our hearts, souls, and minds. I have a relaxed but playful approach to art-making as I believe that the process of making is half the fun, as well as seeing the finished product.

There is something so special that happens when we allow ourselves to open up to our creative intuitions and just make, no matter what it is.

I always work to foster a sense of community by facilitating collaborative, inclusive, and supportive spaces for others to feel comfortable exploring different creative avenues and having fun along the way.
