An Artist's Journey at Sage and Solace
Before moving to a 20-acre property in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, my life and art were shaped by the intensity of urban Vancouver. As a mixed-media artist, my work reflected the energy of the city, but health challenges led me to seek a deeper connection with the land.
With little farming experience, I began a journey of transformation. Nature quickly became my teacher, shifting my art from urban-inspired to organic and spiritual, drawing on materials directly from the earth. Over time, my practice evolved to include floral design, botanical art, and natural dyeing, with each piece reflecting the rhythms and resilience of the land.
I eventually named the farm "Sage and Solace," capturing the wisdom and healing I found in nature, and the peace visitors feel when connecting with the land. As the farm’s beauty unfolded, I invited other creatives to explore this piece of paradise, offering workshops that allowed the community to experience the solace of the land. These sessions gave people the opportunity to connect with nature and express themselves creatively, discovering healing through the process of art-making.
Today, Sage and Solace continues to serve as a sanctuary for myself and others, where art, nature, and spirit unite, providing a space for creativity, peace, and healing through connection with the earth.
